Sony and Nintendo Sued over another patent infringement.
Author: TimeReaper on Mon Jan 14, 2008 11:22 pm
It looks like another company (Copper Innovation Group) is trying to take on the 2 largest gaming company’s Nintendo and Sony. The Copper Innovation Group holds a patent for a “Handheld Computer input apparatus and method”. Copper Innovation Group filed the lawsuit in December and are wanting damages with interest, legal costs and to have both Nintendo cease the selling the infringing consoles and controllers. Is this just another money grab or do they hold fair claim and they really want them to stop selling there patented technology. Only time will tell how this case will go. What do you think? It must be hard to make new technology with all those patents out there.

Here is a link to the Copper Innovation Groups Patent
http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5485171-fulltext.html
In a nut shell The Copper Innovation Group are saying that the way the console and controllers determine who is player 1 and who is player 2
I will continue on with this at a later date to give you all updates on what is happening with this case and others. |

Calling all Wii owners
Author: nathsgames on Tue Jun 17, 2008 4:54 am
OK, I might have to wait a while for a hit here, but.... I want to add some friends to my (Wife's) Wii so I can see this Mii roaming in action. IMO the Mii's are the best thing about the Wii.
We added the Mii Channel on the weekend and got everyone from Jack Black to Darth Vader, Indy Jones, Michael Jackson, you name it.
It's really cool to play bowling or something and see Darth Vader having a beer with Charlie Brown for example...
Anyway, I really want to see this Mii Roaming thing in play and also can we play multiplayer games and things across the Net?
Cheers, |

360 Weird Blade Problems
Author: Wad on Thu Jun 12, 2008 1:28 am
Anyone else having problems in the past few days with the 360 Blades ??
If i dont log into Live all is fine but as soon as i log into Live the first 2 blades go blank and just stay on "Loading". Marketplace, Games & one other just dont reappear. The other blades are fine.
I can play on Live no worries and see friends etc but i cant access the hdd to play demos without disconnecting from Live to be able to see them. Once the game is loaded Live logs in fine.
Just me ? I will have to try my other 360 and see what the go is. |

Atari founder says stealth encryption chip to end PC piracy
Author: Wad on Mon May 26, 2008 12:48 am
Interesting, nothing is uncrackable tho. It will just mean they will produce modchips for PC now
Atari founder, Nolan K. Bushnell, has said that PC game piracy is set to be eradicated with "a stealth encryption chip called a TPM that is going on the motherboards of most of the computers that are coming out now." Bushnell believes that once the install base of the chip is large enough, companies will start to see revenues coming from Asia and India.
quote:
"What that says is that in the games business we will be able to encrypt with an absolutely verifiable private key in the encryption world - which is uncrackable by people on the internet and by giving away passwords - which will allow for a huge market to develop in some of the areas where piracy has been a real problem."
Bushnell thinks that piracy of movies and music, however, is probably unstoppable because "if you can watch it and you can hear it, you can copy it."
"Games are a different thing, because games are so integrated with the code. The TPM will, in fact, absolutely stop piracy of gameplay.

Is the driving too hard in GTA IV?
Author: Wad on Tue May 06, 2008 12:24 am
It seems many GTA IV players are having difficulty controlling the vehicles in GTA IV. Some say that they are crashing and skidding around even when going at a slow speed. Is it really that hard to drive in the game? What do you guys think ?? IMO - you get used to it after a while and certain cars are a waste of time, others are pretty good.

Maybe The game developers went to far with the realism a bit over the top.... In Games the realer the better but You still gotta have fun. it seems like the game is in some type of drift mode you slide a little to much.

Opinion: Blu-ray has 3 problems, DRM, BD-J and greed
Author: Wad on Tue May 06, 2008 12:14 am
An article at The Inquirer has criticized Blu-ray saying that it has 3 problems: DRM infections, BD-J and greed. They say Sony are greedy for increasing Blu-ray player prices 50-100 percent after the end of the format war. They say every Blu-ray disc is DRM infected and prevents "legitimate users from using legally purchased media on legally purchased hardware" and makes "Piracy the Better Choice." They also say that BD-J support is "so half-assed and broken that using it is nothing less than misery."
I found them to be interesting thoughts, you guys ?
quote:
Blu-ray DRM infections do not protect anything, Slysoft has cracked it with their excellent AnyDVD HD product, something I can't recommend enough. Basically, new DRM schemes are broken before you can buy discs with them on it, protecting nothing. It will however prevent legitimate users from using legally purchased media on legally purchased hardware. If you pirate though, no more compatibility issues, once again making Piracy the Better Choice (TM)(C)(R).
Basically the new format has DRM baked in and in your face. It costs you money, hurts only legitimate users, and is laughably insecure. Until it is abolished, just say no to Blu-ray and spend your money elsewhere, try books for example. If you must stoop to the DRM infected media, crack it and run it from your HD, it will save you immense frustration.
